To say that Tori Spelling and Dean McDermottās marriage has been rocky as of late is a bit of an understatement. In a new interview, even Dean admits that he expected Tori to leave him!
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermottās marriage basically imploded when it was revealed that Dean had cheated on Tori while he was filming in Canada at the tail-end of 2013. True Tori was a revealing ā even too revealing ā look at their marriage in the aftermath, and what we saw was not good. In a new interview, Dean admits that he expected Tori to divorce him once the scandal broke! Read on for more on the state of Tori and Deanās marriage post-scandal, and post-True Tori! (Itās hard to say which was more damaging to their relationship.)
Dean McDermott Surprised Tori Spelling Didnāt Divorce Him After Cheating Scandal
āI wake up every morning and Iām just so blessed that sheās in my life still,ā Dean told Giuliana Rancic on E! News ā[Tori]ās such a strong lady, and when this happened I was like, āWhy donāt you just leave me?āā
Trust us ā everyone was asking that question. However, with four kids, itās understandable that Tori wanted to fight to try and keep the marriage alive.
āAnd sheās like, āWell, I love you, I canāt just turn that off,āā Dean added. āāIām mad at you, Iām really upset, Iām really hurt ā but I love you. That just doesnāt go away.ā
āWeāre trying to show people that if that love is still there, love can conquer all and love does conquer all. Itās just going to take a lot of work and a lot of tears and a lot of pain.ā
Dean McDermott: āThings Are Greatā Between Tori & I
āThings are great,ā Dean revealed to Giuliana earlier in their interview. āOur relationship is stronger than itās ever been and weāre working very hard on that. Iām working very hard on myself ā my sobriety, it means everything to me, becoming the dad and the husband that Iāve always wanted to be and that they deserveā¦ Iām changing my life for the good.ā
Also worth noting is the fact that Dean looked a lot healthier than weāve seen him recently. During True Toriās filming (and even prior to that) he had certainly been looking like the drink had been taking its toll; often red-faced and puffy, it was clear that his health was getting away from him as much as his relationship was.

Tori Spelling chats with a friend about forgiving Dean McDermott for his affair on the April 29th episode of ‘True Tori.’
Lifetime promised that the upcoming docuseries True Tori was going to get up close and personal with Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott as they worked on repairing their marriage following his recent time in rehabāand it looks like we can believe the hype.
“That’s my worst nightmare, I cheated on my wife,” Dean says frankly during what appears to be an emotional couples counseling session. “I was out of control…Sex was an escape, just like drugs and alcohol.”
To which Tori tearfully adds, “I could never give him enough sex. He’s never going to be happy with just me.”
And that’s not allāwatch the whole clip to hear the other heartbreaking things the spouses have to say to each other.
Stories about Dean’s then-alleged cheating started plaguing the couple last year, but Tori continued to power through, posting family photos on her blog and sending a joint “Happy New Year” message from both her and her hubby of more than seven years. They have four children together, Liam, 7; Stella, 5; Hattie, 2 1/2; and Finn, 19 months.
Dean checked into out-patient treatment in January, saying in a statement: “I am truly sorry for the mistakes I have made and for the pain I’ve caused my family. I take full responsibility for my actions and have voluntarily checked myself into a treatment center to address some health and personal issues. I am grateful to be getting the help I need so I can become the husband and father my family deserves.”
But only now have the words “I cheated on my wife” been said for all to hear.
Tori Spelling is doing a new reality show, which will document the rocky road she is navigating with love rat cheating husband, Dean McDermott, and an insider exclusively tells RadarOnline.com sheās only doing the project to humiliate the Canadian native ā and is only being paid $100,000.
In a press release from Lifetime, the network states āthe real story will be told as it should be, by Tori Spelling herselfā and says the 40-year-old mother of four āhas made the courageous decision to allow the audience to witness the most difficult and unpredictable period in her life.ā
Titled True Tori, the series will focus on Candy Spellingās daughter but promises to reveal whether her marriage with McDermott, 47, will survive.
However, McDermott āis far from being a willing participant. He felt extremely pressured by Tori to do the reality show. Tori told him they had to do it because their fans want to know what is going on with their marriage. Too bad Dean doesnāt feel that way,ā the insider told Radar.
āThis should be a time of reflection, introspection, healing and figuring out what the next step is for them. The last thing Dean wants to deal with is production schedules and cameras. He asked Tori to wait a few months before doing the reality show, he just needs some timeā¦but she insisted it had to be now. Reluctantly Dean agreed because he feels this is all his fault.ā
And last month Spelling was forced to close her antique store, InvenTORI, amid claims that the family is ābroke.ā
Our source says on the subject of money, āTori isnāt doing the latest reality show for the moneyā¦.Lifetime is only paying her $100,000 for the project.ā
True Tori will premiere in just three weeks on April 22 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.

Tori Spelling did her best to put on a brave face as she headed to a business meeting in Los Angeles on Wednesday. But beneath her baggy clothes, the reality star appeared to have lost weight from her already slender frame.
And after two months of being a single parent to their four children Tori must be ready for a break. The 40-year-old’s thin legs were impossible to miss in her cuffed skinny jeans, which were baggy despite their already tiny size. She kept it casual in a deep mauve floral-print kaftan-style top with three-quarter sleeves and a V-shaped neckline. Well-worn brown suede ankle boots completed her ensemble.
The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star wore her signature platinum blonde locks pulled back from her face in a simple low ponytail, while she covered her eyes with fun purple-framed sunglasses and carried a black handbag. She appeared to be wearing plenty of complementary bronze make-up, with a pop of pink on her pout.
