With the holiday season well and truly here, celeb parents Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott have been gearing up for their son Liam’s first ever Christmas. The couple - who wed in May 2006 - took the little boy to a New York toy store at the weekend to catch up on a little festive shopping.

At almost nine-months-old, Liam is a little young to fully grasp the concept of Christmas. And while he may be too young to pick out his own presents, he certainly seemed to approve of his mom’s choice, a giant monkey. The animal is the couple’s pet name for their son. “He actually responds to the name Monkey more than Liam,” admits Tori.

The festive season holds a special significance for Tori and her Canadian husband. On Christmas Eve 2005 Dean proposed to the former Beverly Hills 90210 star at a tree farm outside his Toronto home town.

He asked for her hand as they dined in a forest of decorated trees, after arriving in a horse-drawn carriage. Completing the romantic scene was a half mile of lights leading up to the table, which had been painstakingly laid out by his sister.
