Between filming a reality show and embarking on a nationwide book tour, Tori Spelling says it can be hard to balance her career with her home life.
“I’m still working on trying to balance it all, and it’s a struggle I deal with every single day. I want to do it all!” Spelling, 37, tells UsMagazine.com. “I’m passionate about everything in my life. Obviously my family and my kids are my priority. I want to be that stay-at-home mom, but I want to build an empire at the same time.”
The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum is quick to admit that raising Liam, 3, and Stella, 2, has sometimes taken a toll on her marriage to Dean McDermott.
“Four years into a marriage, we never thought we’d be having these issues and having problems,” she says. “But you never think ahead what it’s like to have kids, and a lot of our issues came from different view points on parenting.”
So how do the two parents find a compromise?
“We had communication breakdown, but we’ve worked through that. We’re still working on stuff, but I think relationships are a work in progress,” Spelling tells Us. “It all takes work, but if you love that person, you’re willing to do the work.”
And when things do get rough, Spelling says she only has to look at her children to regain her perspective.
“They’re best friends. They do everything together,” she gushes. “Stella’s new thing is that she sings ‘Single Ladies’ and dances to it. No joke, she shakes her hips! And people are like, ‘Is that normal? She watches Beyonce?’ And I’m like, ‘No, she watches Chipmunks: The Squeakquel — they do it in that!’”

I know this is going to sound like the strangest thing you have ever heard and I really hope and pray that Tori gets to either read this or at least hear about this. I am a huge fan of hers and I feel like she is a “real” person. There are so many celebrities that make us feel like we have to be a certain way and act a certain way and Tori just isn’t that way or doesn’t seem to be that way on her shoes. She seems like down to earth person that really cares about people. So I guess that is the reason I am writing this today. I am at the end of my rope and I am really hopeful that Khloe can find it in her heart to help my husband and I out. We have only been married for two years and we are only 30 years old. We don’t have any kids yet but would LOVE to someday have them. We just aren’t able to make that dream happen right now.
In November of 2010 my husband had a grand maul seizure that lead doctors to find out he had a HSV virus on the frontal lobe of his brain. He was in Methodist hospital in Des Moines in a medical induced coma for 4 days so they could do testing and make a diagnosis. They found out that the virus was one of 4 they couldn’t treat with medicine and his body would just have to fight off the virus. So after being in the hospital for 7 days they sent us home to see if his body could fight off the infection. 4 days later we went back in for a MRI to see how things were going and the virus had grown to 3 times the size it was when we left so they sent us to Iowa City. We were there the whole month of December. Adam (my husband) had numerous tests, MRI’s, and even a brain biopsy. Finally after being there for 29 days he started to show progress we were transferred to Younkers Rehabilitation in Des Moines. He was unable to walk or hold his own body up at all. He had lost a lot of muscle and the virus had affected his left side quite a bit.
He was in Younkers inpatient for 52 days and was released to come home on Feb 19th. He then started outpatient therapy still at Methodist. He did very well there but could only do that for so long. He is home now and has been released to go back to work from his neurologist on a part time basis as he can tolerate it. However, he was at his job as a temp employee and they had to let him go due to budget cuts and that left him without a job. He has applied for many jobs but has been unsuccessful in getting a job because his social skills (due to the virus) aren’t what they used to be and he is not able to work full time yet.
I am not really sure what I am asking for but I just thought if I could get our story out there maybe some one would be able to help us out in some way. We don’t have much and with only one income it makes things even more difficult. I love my husband more than anything in the world. There are so many things I would love to be able to do for him to lift his spirt. He gets pretty down since he is not able to “provide” for his family and there are many things we are not able to do anymore no that he has limitations. We love sports and there are so many sports things we can’t attend anymore due to the amount of stairs and walking it takes to get to things. I know Tori is a VERY busy person but I thought I would go out on a limb and see if I could get any help at all for the love of my life! I know that Dean is the love of Tori’s life and she would do anything for him. I feel the same way about my Adam. We LOVE watching their show together it makes us laugh and just for a little bit makes us feel better about things we have going on.
Thank you so much for your time and I really hope you can help me out and at least let Tori make a decision on weather or not to help out a small town Iowa girl or not.
